On the commencement of Holy Amarnath Yatra 2014, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the pioneer telecom company, PSU has provided mobile connectivity enroute Holy Cave both from Pahalgam as well as from Baltal Route.

With the commissioning of the state of art technology Mobile BTS’s, the pilgrims of Amarnath Yatra 2014, can remain in touch with their families during the entire Amarnath Yatra. Needless to mention that BSNL is the only mobile operator, which is providing the mobile connectivity for the Amarnath Yarties.

Shri Anupam Srivastva Director consumer mobility informed that the prospective Amarnath Yatries may procure the BSNL/MTNL Postpaid Sim cards from their respective telecom circles with roaming facility to remain in touch with families during Amarnath Yatra 2014.

BSNL has also made arrangement for the sale of Special Amaranth Yatra SlMs of  BSNL GSM Mobile Services at base camps both at Pahalgam and Sonamarg/ Baltal. The validity of the SIM is 7 days, which comes at the cost of Rs. 195/- only, with a valuable free talk time of 120 minutes to be used for any network. However, the esteemed pilgrims have to submit the copy of their Yatra Slip, Valid POI/POA (Proof of Address/ Proof of Identity) and four photographs.

By this, Indian mobile subscribers may understand that, the private telecom operators offers their telecom services only in cities and urban areas not in remote & special areas for the general public of India where revenue potential is low.
